Meet Your Therapist
Jenna Park, MD, LMFTA
I am a non-practicing physician, mental health researcher, and licensed marriage and family therapist associate (LMFTA, WA MG61566317) under the supervision of Dr. Kimberly Riley, DSW, LMFT, MHP, CMHS (WA LF61000202). Please click the qualifications button for more information. My background in medicine, public health and psychotherapy have shaped the lens through which I perceive mental health problems. And in my mind, problems do not exist in a vacuum.
Just as the heart functions as both an individual organ and part of the larger circulatory system, each person functions as both an individual being and part of a larger ecosystem. Mental health problems are therefore influenced and maintained by the systems in which we live and not just the responsibility of the individual. Identifying these systems will help us better understand ourselves, our connection to others and our desired path forward.
I use a pro-aging and medically-informed unifying framework for psychotherapy to address the unique and evolving needs of each client. My comprehensive and evidence-based approach integrates different theories, techniques and interventions that adapt to the distinctive characteristics of each client and effectively treat an array of issues.
I value empathy, curiosity and non judgmental acceptance as drivers of a good therapeutic alliance. My priority is to understand the client’s vision and goals, not to present my own. I work with clients to create customized treatment plans that reflect their cultural values and ongoing feedback in an effort to promote healing, empowerment and joy.
In my practice, all are welcome, all are seen, all are heard.
